III. IAAF İzmir Art Fair

The III. IAAF İzmir Art Fair, held at Fuar İzmir from May 13–17, 2026, brought together artists, galleries, and art institutions from Türkiye and abroad. Beklan Murat participated as part of the UPSD selection with his work Where Is Dad? UPSD President Denizhan Özer emphasized the importance of art fairs in bringing artists, galleries, and cultural institutions together and creating a shared platform for artistic exchange. In Where Is Dad?, Murat approaches the human consequences of war through a deeply personal perspective, using his own dog as the central figure rather than a human subject. Imagining a world on the brink of a larger global conflict, the work reflects on absence, uncertainty, and loss through the silent vulnerability of an animal waiting for its owner. Through this perspective, Murat questions the consequences of human conflict for the innocent lives left behind.

    "ART NİYET" COLLECTION

**Art Niyet**, curated by **Denizhan Özer and Murat Havan** and organized by IAA/AIAP–UPSD as part of the **2026 World Art Day celebrations**, brought together artists around the idea of art as a transformative, questioning, and unifying force in times of social and global uncertainty. The exhibition was held at the UPSD Art Gallery in Istanbul from **April 18–30, 2026**.Sharing this perspective, **Beklan Murat participated with a work from his *Homo Homini Lupus* series**, reflecting his belief in art as both a form of personal expression and a means of engaging with the realities of contemporary society.

      "DERİNLİĞİN İZ DÜŞÜMÜ" COLLECTION

**Reflection of Depth (Derinliğin İz Düşümü)** was a group contemporary art exhibition held at Galeri Eyüpsultan in Istanbul from **March 28 to April 17, 2026**. Curated by Azize Rodoplu, the exhibition brought together 103 works by 53 artists across painting, sculpture, ceramics, and other contemporary disciplines. For **Beklan Murat, who participated with three works, it marked his first group exhibition**, following his return to Istanbul after an extended period of artistic production in Bali.Returning to the city with a renewed perspective, Murat reflected on an Istanbul that no longer carried the atmosphere he remembered. Through his works, he expressed a personal sense of longing for the **old Istanbul—its character, intimacy, and fading spirit—**while confronting the transformation of a city that had once felt deeply familiar. In this sense, his participation became not only a return to Istanbul’s art scene, but also a reflection on memory, belonging, and change.

        "HOMO HOMINI LUPUS"/COLLECTION

**Homo Homini Lupus** explores human nature through a visual language that blends realism and surrealism. Moving between the familiar and the unsettling, the collection reflects on the contradictions of human existence and invites the viewer to question our relationship with ourselves, one another, and the world we inhabit.Presented at **Evrim Art Gallery in Istanbul from December 21, 2024, to January 9, 2025**, *Homo Homini Lupus* marked **Beklan Murat’s first solo exhibition**. The exhibition also featured a **live painting performance by the artist**, emphasizing the direct relationship between artistic creation, the artist, and the audience.Bringing together acrylic paintings on canvas alongside works created with recycled materials, the exhibition represents an important turning point in Murat’s artistic practice and his transition toward a full-time focus on fine art painting.
