Homo Homini Lupus

Dec 21, 2024 / Jan 9, 2025

On this meaningful journey undertaken with my esteemed mentor, Curator and Painter Fehim Güler, we inaugurated my first solo exhibition, “Homo Homini Lupus”, on December 21, 2024, with the gracious hosting of Evrim Art Gallery. This exhibition concluded on January 9, 2025, enriched by valuable experiences, meaningful encounters, and constructive critiques.

For me, this exhibition was not merely an event but a gathering where my entire artistic journey met with tranquility. Celebrating one of the most significant steps in my ongoing struggle for existence together with you, esteemed participants, was profoundly meaningful and a source of immense joy.

In this regard, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to my esteemed mentor Fehim Güler for his invaluable guidance, to Evrim Art Gallery for their gracious hosting, and to all of you, dear attendees, for your support and presence.

About "Homo Homini lupus"

As also noted by the participants, there was no manifesto in this exhibition. My motivation here was to convey my concerns without prescribing any particular ideological direction to the audience.

In terms of its subject, this was an autobiographical approach for me. For my first exhibition, I believed that the most authentic choice was to tell the story I know best: my own.

My paintings showed me that we could enter a deep process of perception together with the audience and establish meaningful connections in this way. For me, this was perhaps the clearest demonstration of art's dominance in the abstract realm.

In a physical space, alongside tangible works of art, we embarked together on a journey into the abstract realm of the mind...

From this perspective, being able to observe and examine the impact of art on the mental world reveals the layers of human nature, the strength of humanity's spiritual dimension, and the vast space we occupy beyond the physical reality of our existence.

In this sense, art, along with its creations, becomes a portal enabling us to communicate within the abstract realm.

At this very point, I would like to emphasize the potential healing effect of art’s individual practice in social communication, free from any personal interest.

About Live Performance

In this exhibition, I also performed a live performance. Here, my goal was to make a reference to the reliability of our increasingly mechanized world. In this context, I believe it is important to emphasize that the works are born from the artist’s own mind and hands.

Additionally, I must mention that the intense interest in the live performance revealed to me that the most direct way to empathize with the performer is through active participation. I hope that this empathy, in the context of personal execution, will be incorporated into lives.

Beneath this hope, in a world full of destruction, annihilation, and war, I believe that sharing the excitement of creation and existence will bring individual happiness and social peace.

I also place great importance on the cultural transmission between generations that we displayed at the end of the live performance. In this context, considering that I am at an age where I understand the significance of guidance on the journey of life, I believe that it is the highest mission for a visionary, idealist, socially conscious observer—who understands the value of happiness together—to show the younger generations the path to the right outcome on an individual level. In this context, I must express my gratitude to my esteemed mentor Fehim Güler for his meaningful contribution and guidance in ensuring the sustainability of my artistic journey.
